Laws of Vietnam

1. It heard the Minister of Planning and Investment presenting the draft Government’s decree detailing the implementation of the Law on Foreign Investment in Vietnam. The Government assigned the Ministry of Planning and Investment to assume prime responsibility and coordinate with the Government Office and other concerned ministries and branches in gathering the cabinet members’ comments, finalizing the draft decree, then submitting it to the Prime Minister for promulgation in July 2000. The Minister of Planning and Investment also presented a report on socio-economic situation in the first half of the year and the Government’s draft resolution on measures to administer the plans in the second half of 2000.

2. It heard the State Inspector General reporting on the settlement of complaints and denunciations in the second quarter of 2000; the Ministry of Public Security reporting on the results of the implementation of the Government’s Decree No. 36/CP of May 29, 1995 on ensuring road and urban traffic order and safety and the Prime Minister’s Directive No. 21/1998/CT-TTg of April 24, 1998 for the people’s police forces; the Ministry of Communication and Transport reporting on traffic accident situations and remedial measures.

3. It also heard the Minister-Director of the Government Office reviewing the direction and management activities of the Government in the first six months of 2000.

4. It heard the Minister of Defense presenting a report on the draft law on national border of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; the Ministry of Justice presenting a report on the draft ordinance (amended) on sanctioning administrative violations; it also heard the Hanoi People’s Committee presenting a report on the draft Hanoi capital ordinance; the Government’s Religion Commission presenting a report on the draft religion ordinance.- (Summary)
