Headnote


Elimination of Customs Duties on Goods Originating in Brunei Darussalam, New Zealand or Singapore


Introductory notes


  1. The tariff schedule in this Annex contains the following five columns:

(a) “Code”: the code used in the nomenclature of the Harmonized System

2002.


(b) “Description”: description of the product falling under the heading.


(c) “Base Rate”: the basic customs duty from which the tariff elimination programme starts.


(d) “Category”: the category or categories under which the product concerned falls for the purposes of tariff elimination.


(e) “Observation”: Additional information.


  1. Except as otherwise provided in this Agreement, Chile shall progressively eliminate its customs duties on originating goods of the other Parties in accordance with its Tariff Schedule set out in this Annex. The base rate and the interim rate of customs duty at each stage of reduction for an item are indicated for the item in the Schedule. Reductions shall occur upon entry into force of the Agreement and thereafter on 1 January of each year, as provided for in the Schedule.
  2. Sugar treatment

Preferential tariff treatment established in Chile’s Tariff Schedule set out in this Annex shall be accorded to a quantity of goods equal to the amount of the trade surplus by volume from all sources of Brunei Darussalam, New Zealand or Singapore respectively, in the following goods: HS1701.11, HS1701.12, HS1701.91, and HS1701.99. The respective trade surpluses of Brunei Darussalam, New Zealand or Singapore will be calculated using the most recent annual data available.
