VESSELS PASSING THROUGH THE LAO TIEH SHAN CHANNEL

TEXT:

(1) The area with Lao Tieh Shan light house as center and a distance of 10 miles as radius, and the area with North Hwang Cheng Tao light beacon as center and a distance of seven miles as radius are prohibited areas. The middle channel between these two prohibited areas is the navigable channel.

NOTE:

a. Characteristics of Lao Tieh Shan light house (38 deg. 43 min. 7N., 121 deg. 07 min. 7E); Lt.Gp.Fl. (2)ev. 30 Sec 25M.

b. Characteristics of North Hwang Cheng Tao light beacon (38 deg. 23 min. 7N., 120 deg. 54 min. 3E); Lt.FI.ev. 3 Sec. 15M.

(2) Merchant vessels intending to pass through the Lao Tieh Shan Channel must send a wireless message to "Harbour Master, Dairen" at least eight hours prior to the passage, or after leaving the port of departure, reporting the following matters:

Ship's name, nationality, signal letters, port of departure, port of destination, speed, colour of ship's hull and funnel and accurate expected time to pass the line joining Lao Tieh Shan light house and North Hwang Cheng Tao light beacon.

NOTE:

a. Dairen Coastal Wireless Station:

Signal letters: X S Z; Calling Frequency 500 kc; Working Frequency 462 kc, 8694 kc; Reserve Frequency 8678 kc; working day and night.

b. If weather conditions should cause any change in the expected time of the passage, the fact must be immediately reported to "Harbour Master, Dairen".

(3) Merchant vessels passing through the Lao Tieh Shan Channel must show lights in accordance with the international "Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea".

(4) Vessels are prohibited to pass through the area with Hai Mao Tao (38 deg. 52 min N., 121 deg. 01 min. E.) as center and a distance of 10 miles as radius.

(5) Any vessel violating any of the above-mentioned regulations will be held responsible for all consequences.
