Decision of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress on Approving the Convention for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage

Adopted on August 28th, 2004

The 11th Session of the Standing Committee of the Tenth National People's Congress decides to ratify the Convention for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage, which was adopted at the 32nd meeting of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization on November 3rd, 2003; and states simultaneously that the Convention for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage is not applicable to Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China temporarily before additional notice is made by the Government of the People's Republic of China.
