APEC DEREGULATION REPORT 2000 - BRUNEI

APEC Deregulation Report 2000

Brunei

OBJECTIVE

APEC economies will:

  1. promote the transparency of their respective regulatory regimes; and
  2. eliminate trade and investment distortion arising from domestic regulations which not only impede free and open trade and investment in the Asia-Pacific region but also are more trade and/or investment restricting than necessary to fulfil a legitimate objective.
  1. Current Position

The Government of Brunei Darussalam is undertaking and will continue to undertake steps to eliminate or reduce the negative impact of any domestic regulations, which impede free and open trade and investment. The current five-year National Development Plan aims to diversify the economy through broadening the industrial and commercial base, including undertaking liberalisation and deregulation measures.
